"I have a theory about rock: In every decade, the first years are awesome and extraordinary for rock music. But then somewhere in the middle, rock starts getting crappy, and finally in the end of the decade, it dies, leaving the pop manufactured crap to take over. And the whole cycle begins with pop fading out. It all began in the early 70’s with bands like the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin rocking the scene, then the disco era trend massacred its greatness, but alas it ended and underground punk music became mainstream with bands like the Clash, the Ramones, Sex Pistols to come and save rock in the early 80’s, then again pop crap like Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince totally took the scene, and there was only left hair bands and power ballads. But suddenly with the help of Metallica and Guns and Roses, other bands started experimenting with every element, and in the early 90’s, grunge was born with the rise and tragic fall of Nirvana. Then in the mid 90’s the new wave trend began to make rock a mindless genre, when it just faded out and the worst happened, with the rise of the Back Street Boys, N’sync, Five, Britney Spears which were at some time unstoppable, and of course no help from the nu-metal from Limp Bizkit, Linking Park, Kid Rock made it just a incurable cancer that was just killing the decency of rock. But what I realized when I see MTV, Much-Music, etc is that rock is coming back again, and pop bands such as N’sync, Back Street Boys and Weslife are disappearing with the shocking low sales from Britney''s new album. Of course we still have to deal with nu-metal and neopunk! Still yet to come another generation teenyboppers mindless band in the years 2007-2012" - Dr Scrub
